Politically Correct 12 Days of Christmas
On the 12th day of the Eurocentrically imposed midwinter festival, my Significant Other in a consenting adult, monogamous relationship gave to me:
TWELVE males reclaiming their inner warrior through ritual drumming,
ELEVEN pipers piping (plus the 18-member pit orchestra made up of members in good standing of the Musicians Equity Union as called for in their union contract even though they will not be asked to play a note),
TEN melanin deprived testosterone-poisoned scions of the patriarchal ruling class system leaping,
NINE persons engaged in rhythmic self-expression,
EIGHT economically disadvantaged female persons stealing milk-products from enslaved Bovine-Americans,
SEVEN endangered swans swimming on federally protected wetlands,
SIX enslaved Fowl-Americans producing stolen non-human animal products,
FIVE golden symbols of culturally sanctioned enforced domestic incarceration,
(NOTE: after members of the Animal Liberation Front threatened to throw red paint at my computer, the calling birds, French hens and partridge have been reintroduced to their native habitat. To avoid further Animal-American enslavement, the remaining gift package has been revised.)
FOUR hours of recorded whale songs
THREE deconstructionist poets
TWO Sierra Club calendars printed on recycled processed tree carcasses and…
ONE Spotted Owl activist chained to an old-growth pear tree.
I lost my faith a long time ago
Puttin' miles on this old road
I lost my family and I lost my soul
800 miles and one more show
Still workin' these fingers to the bone
When the show is over I sit alone
Where the angels and devils are my only friends
I wake up in the morning and I do it again
I don't know what you've been told
All the whiskey in the world won't save my soul
I've done it all so where do I begin
To fix all the messes in the state I'm in
It's hard
Yeah it's hard
I feel like there's a better way
To make it through another day
So sad that life turned out like this
'Cause I still taste you on my lips
Well I don't know what you've been told
All the whiskey in the world won't save my soul
I've done it all so where do I begin
To fix all the messes in the state I'm in
It's hard
There seems to be a pattern...
New York reported five cases of the Omicron variant. Other cases were reported in Minnesota, Hawaii, California and Colorado.

Yeah, that's the reason.

Round 2 complete and the clean up crew is hard
at work (me and the rest of the TOBies).
19 additional guests - luckily they showed up
somewhat scattered. Enough food everyone
left stuffed.
Amazing time with my amazing family, friends,
and a couple of new additions.
A lot of laughter, some tears shed over the two
we lost since last year, and a whole lot of stories
and memories.
I am luckier than I deserve.
Hope this afternoon (where I am) finds you all enjoying
the holiday in the way that is most fitting for you.
Mine is going as expected. I am truly blessed and thankful.
Thankful for my sons, and grandson, being safe, healthy,
and tolerating my eclecticness.
Thankful for friends, both old and new.
Thankful for the morning Zoom call crew and @padre
for the virtual space you provide.
Thankful for the ability to continue the tradition of opening the
doors and table to those who need it.
Round 1 complete. An even dozen guests, and the traditional
empty chair for those we are missing.
Clean up scramble in process, with food for round 2 underway.
Be well.
