Good Morning Digital Neighbors and Friends! Happy Tuesday and 11th of January! Let's jump back into the Dictionary of the Strange, Curious & Lovely: 3500 Most Beautiful English Vocabulary Words. Two words for Tuesday to offer some amusement and perhaps minor morning entertainment. Off we go! 🏃‍♂️

Embuggerance - Any hazard or obstacles, whether natural or artificial, that impedes or complicates a proposed course of action. British Military slang

I don't have anything clever to say about this word, but I do enjoy the sound of it. 😊 Don't be an embuggerance in the life of others you fool! 👀Is the act of being a obstacles to others embuggery?🤔 Life gives us lots of embuggerance, overcoming them or navigating around them brings some of the better moments of satisfaction in life.

Saprostomous - Having bad breath There are many things people will over look in life, but smells aren't one of them. Bad breath, body odor, being the self-proclaimed Lord or Lady of flatulence will not be forgotten in the company you keep.

If I encounter someone who has been working hard or working out hard and has worked up a powerful sweat and potential smell, I think that is earned stench. You worked the body hard and earned that smell. Unearned stench is another thing and can be a factor of alienation with other people. We would have guys in the seminary with bad BO that had to be addressed, I don't expect guys to smell like a perfume factory, but I don't expect them to smell like a mobile armpit.

Bad breathe is another thing, people will forgive you for looking barely awake in the morning, but they will not forget a close encounter with the morning Godzilla. Mouth wash, good oral hygiene or seeing a doctor might be needed if you possess chronic saprostomous. In the world of human interactions, repeated violations of make-up melting and hair wilting halitosis will not be forgotten. I guess there are people who are inattentive or unaware of the power of smell as a powerful tertiary sense that carries powerful memories. Honest friends or family members can help cultivate that attentiveness. Of course if you travel, different cultures have different standards of acceptable smells. Thankfully if you are stranded or at home with the odoriferous the sense of smell seems to mute itself rather quickly and can become normative. "That's just the way Timmy smells." Why are skunks the exception? I hear there is some chemical in their musk that prevents our sense of smell from muting it. So in conclusion, try not to be a saprostomous embuggerance to the people sharing your space! Happy Tuesday!

Voltaire's birthday 11-21-1694 - A brief essay by Steve Weidenkopf

Today marks the three hundred and thirtieth birthday of the Frenchman François-Marie Arouet, better known by his nom de plume, Voltaire (1694-1778).

Born into a bourgeois family during the reign of Louis XIV, the “Sun King” (r. 1643-1715), Voltaire suffered tragedy at a young age when his mother died. Never close with his father or brother, Voltaire exhibited a rebellious attitude toward authority from his youth. His brilliant mind was fostered in the care of the Society of Jesus, who introduced him to the joys of literature and theater. Despite his later criticisms against the Church, Voltaire, throughout his life, fondly recalled his dedicated Jesuit teachers.

Although he spent time as a civil servant in the French embassy to the Hague, Voltaire’s main love was writing—an endeavor where he excelled in various genres, including poetry, which led to his appointment as the royal court poet for King Louis XV. Widely recognized as one of the greatest French writers, and even hyperbolically referred to by ...
