A few thoughts for a Saturday morning from John O'Donohue from To Bless the Space Between Us.
ON WAKING
I give thanks for arriving
Safely in a new dawn,
For the gift of eyes
To see the world,
The gift of mind
To feel at home
In my life.
The waves of possibility
Breaking on the shore of dawn,
The harvest of the past
That awaits my hunger,
And all the furtherings
This new day will bring.
ON MEETING A STRANGER
With respect
And reverence
That the unknown
Between us
Might flower Into discovery
And lead us
Beyond
The familiar field
Blind with the weed
Of weariness
And the old walls
Of habit.
Great thoughts from John. Every day is a gift and and you never know who might become a new old friend when you venture into the world, real or digital. Have a great day my digital friends at Locals!
Today marks the three hundred and thirtieth birthday of the Frenchman François-Marie Arouet, better known by his nom de plume, Voltaire (1694-1778).
Born into a bourgeois family during the reign of Louis XIV, the “Sun King” (r. 1643-1715), Voltaire suffered tragedy at a young age when his mother died. Never close with his father or brother, Voltaire exhibited a rebellious attitude toward authority from his youth. His brilliant mind was fostered in the care of the Society of Jesus, who introduced him to the joys of literature and theater. Widely recognized as one of the greatest French writers, and even hyperbolically referred to by ...

Made lamb chops on the cast iron skillet on the stove. After dinner pan had lots of congealed fat, imbedded with herbs & spices, caked onto the bottom of the pan. Recently had seen a hack and decided to try it. Heated up the pan, then put a few ice cubes in it. SHEZAM fat all quickly liquified - wiped it with a paper towel, threw in some kosher salt and wiped that up just for good measure, then rinsed and dried on the stovetop.
