Good Morning Digital Neighbors, Refugees and Phamily! Happy Tuesday Early Birds, Dawn Patrol and ADD Irregulars! Greetings Later Dayers, Day Walkers, Supporters, Members, Conversants & Lurkers!
Well it will be an interesting day ahead of us, the worst thing to happen thus far was the MUSK purchase of Twitter and the spreading of lies under the guise of free speech. If you don't believe the narrative, you are a believer or spreader of misinformation which probably means you believe conspiracy theories. Today's Conspiracy theory, tomorrows confirmed experience, buried on page 32 of the few remaining news papers and not mentioned by the Enemedia. Elon can take a break while the the Press pivots to the peaceful protesters preparing to storm the Supreme Court or others heroes of liberty destroying something else. Stay tuned for the worst thing ever - now available in two weeks to stop the spread mania! Off to Carl Jung and something quotable.
An understanding heart is everything in a teacher, and cannot be esteemed highly enough. One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feeling. The curriculum is so much necessary raw material, but warmth is the vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the child.
Warmth is the vital element. Ms. Nissing was a great 2nd grade teacher. She made up for all the faults of my 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Hicks. The bitter and soured soul that taught first grade turned me against school so early in the process. I hated going to school most days during first grade. By today's standards, what Mrs. Hicks did was probably some form of personal abuse. If a student cried in class, remember first grade, her solution was to place a pacifier on their desk. Humiliation did work, there was less crying.
Ms. Nissing was kind, caring and compassionate to all of us still in shock from the turd that tainted first grade. She had a hand puppet that she used for various lessons from time to time, she would designate her helper for the day and it would rotate through the classroom. I always loved reading as a child, and she super charged my desire to read. I became excited to go to school and she did so much to instill a hunger for learning in my heart. Her love for her students made all the difference in my life and my learning.
In third grade, she married and became Mrs. Reed. I just saw her a few years ago and expressed my gratitude for all she did for me. While not my favorite grade in grade school, she is among my top five educators who made a difference in my learning. Mr. Shelton in 4th grade has the honor of making fourth grade my favorite year of grade school. The blossoming of Tommy from an insecure student to a confident one happened under him, but without Ms. Nissing, I doubt Mr. Shelton would have had any luck. I hope you had a few good teachers along the way, they can make all the difference. Happy Tuesday my friends!
Today marks the three hundred and thirtieth birthday of the Frenchman François-Marie Arouet, better known by his nom de plume, Voltaire (1694-1778).
Born into a bourgeois family during the reign of Louis XIV, the “Sun King” (r. 1643-1715), Voltaire suffered tragedy at a young age when his mother died. Never close with his father or brother, Voltaire exhibited a rebellious attitude toward authority from his youth. His brilliant mind was fostered in the care of the Society of Jesus, who introduced him to the joys of literature and theater. Despite his later criticisms against the Church, Voltaire, throughout his life, fondly recalled his dedicated Jesuit teachers.
Although he spent time as a civil servant in the French embassy to the Hague, Voltaire’s main love was writing—an endeavor where he excelled in various genres, including poetry, which led to his appointment as the royal court poet for King Louis XV. Widely recognized as one of the greatest French writers, and even hyperbolically referred to by ...
