Good Morning Digital Neighbors from across the Locals-stratosphere of Rubin Report, Phetasy, Triggernometry and At-Padre's. Just a morning thought to share with all of you and then some additional info on Sept for the Refugees at Rubin Report and the Irregulars at Padre's.
THE BLESSINGS & SKILLS OF OTHERS
It is wise to take pleasure in the blessings and skills of others.
When we find someone who surpasses us, be thankful that
such gifts are in our midst, a public banquet to which we are
all invited. The remedy to envy is to learn to accept one's self
and one's gifts, however modest, and to make the best use of
them to make a better world. - Dale Turner
So much of what is screwed up about our current chapter of humanity in the West is the failure of cultures to cultivate the attitudes espoused in this simple quote. Envy and self-rejection wreck countless lives in this age of indulged insanity and sanctioned hate; of self, others and life itself. I pray every day for personal enlightenment and for that of others to heal the wounds that are tearing apart what were once communities and families of imperfect trust and respect. No need to rant - we just have to look around to see the wreckage but also to see the glimmers of hope and gold that can lead to a state of recovery. I strive to embrace hope, but I'm not one to ignore the mess or sugarcoat the crap. It is probably one of the reasons I so enjoy the Locals communities I frequent, while all different, they have a similar approach to trying to process this current human chapter with humor, questions and I think a desire to try and understand how the hell did we get here. Happy Wednesday Friends, Refugees, Phamily, Triggeratti, Fascinating People, Early Birds & Dawn Patrol, Day Walkers and Later Dayers, Conversants, Lurkers, ADD Irregulars and all my Digital Neighbors!

Dear Friends at Rubin Report & Padre's - Some updates from Sept's brother John The first one came in the early afternoon and then the second one later in the day.
Fr. Tom,
I just spoke with Judy's ICU nurse. Judy's body is weak and depleted. They are trying to strengthen and stabilize her. She is not being treated for any other acute condition, although she had heart arrhythmia during the night. She made it clear to the nurse (and me too) that she wishes to be taken off all medications and life support. The nurse will have the doctors talk with Judy about this. The nurse believes Judy's life is still viable and that some recovery is possible. Judy is adamant she does not want to be released and have home healthcare services or be moved to a rehabilitation or assisted living facility. The nurse stated, and I agree, that Judy is still able to make her own healthcare choices. I will respect her wishes and advocate for her, but I'm not sure it's possible for her care providers to assist her in reaching end-of-life at this point. I agree with you. Now is the time for prayer.
Peace be with you, John
Fr. Tom,
Thanks for all the love and support, both from you and from all Judy's other online friends. I told her everyone is holding her in their hearts as she makes the transition. That seemed to bring her a measure of peace. I only have one request. When Judy passes, could you please say Mass in her name? While this would make little difference to her in this life, hopefully it will help provide her an even happier home with the Lord. I know it will make a difference to those of us still in this world. Hopefully it will help you and her other friends achieve closure. I would really appreciate it. Thank you.
As I hear more I will post it as I can. - Peace, Padre
Today marks the three hundred and thirtieth birthday of the Frenchman François-Marie Arouet, better known by his nom de plume, Voltaire (1694-1778).
Born into a bourgeois family during the reign of Louis XIV, the “Sun King” (r. 1643-1715), Voltaire suffered tragedy at a young age when his mother died. Never close with his father or brother, Voltaire exhibited a rebellious attitude toward authority from his youth. His brilliant mind was fostered in the care of the Society of Jesus, who introduced him to the joys of literature and theater. Despite his later criticisms against the Church, Voltaire, throughout his life, fondly recalled his dedicated Jesuit teachers.
Although he spent time as a civil servant in the French embassy to the Hague, Voltaire’s main love was writing—an endeavor where he excelled in various genres, including poetry, which led to his appointment as the royal court poet for King Louis XV. Widely recognized as one of the greatest French writers, and even hyperbolically referred to by ...
