GIVE ME A KIND HEART
Give me a kind heart that will endure,
One that’s strong and secure.
To help someone along the way,
May this be my goal every day.
Let me lend a helping hand
To someone whose life has not gone as planned,
Reaching out to one in need,
May this be my daily good deed,
To provide a guiding light
For someone lost in the dark of night.
Let me take time to care
For someone experiencing despair.
Whatever I do, everywhere I go,
Your Will, Dear Lord, let me know. - Eve Kiley
Good Morning Digital Neighbors! Happy Friday ADD Irregulars and all Visitors to the WSN that is @-Padre's.
To be compassionate without being played or burned is almost impossible. There will always be users and takers in life and many of them will be disguised as people in need. I guess I take the attitude of a willingness to occasionally get burned or used by the selfish and the stupid rather than having a closed heart and an indifferent will.
It is hard to strive to be more selfless in a culture and age that tilts us so heavily to self-absorption and obsessive self-involvement. So many things in my life come with excessive ease and convenience, I am not saying my life is a cakewalk, but rather than so much of my day is filled with devices and gadgets that would make life look magical to my great grandparents. The LEFT and SOURED RIGHT want you to feel guilty about such prosperity and "privilege" (A Friar aside - If you see others through the filter of privilege you have adopted an attitude of envy and you will not be happy, possibly ever in your life. There is never any joy to be found in envy except the passing delight of destruction, but not real creative joy. Envy almost always leads to dismissal , anger and destruction.) but such things should lead us to overflowing gratitude. Even on the most crappiest of days, I am blessed and fortunate, I hope I can remember that when the chips are down. Gratitude is the garden of enduring virtues that will not only make you life better but also enrich the lives of those who share your company. Give me a kind heart and a wise mind to tend my acre of reality and help those I encounter to do the same. Have a great weekend my friends!

Born into a bourgeois family during the reign of Louis XIV, the “Sun King” (r. 1643-1715), Voltaire suffered tragedy at a young age when his mother died. Never close with his father or brother, Voltaire exhibited a rebellious attitude toward authority from his youth. His brilliant mind was fostered in the care of the Society of Jesus, who introduced him to the joys of literature and theater. Despite his later criticisms against the Church, Voltaire, throughout his life, fondly recalled his dedicated Jesuit teachers.
Although he spent time as a civil servant in the French embassy to the Hague, Voltaire’s main love was writing—an endeavor where he excelled in various genres, including poetry, which led to his appointment as the royal court poet for King Louis XV. Widely recognized as one of the greatest French writers, and even hyperbolically referred to by ...
