Good Morning Digital Neighbors! Happy Thursday Friends & Refugees, Phamily & ADD Irregulars, Conversants, Lurkers, Dawn Patrol & Early Birds, Later Dayers and Vagabonds who frequent the these havens on the internet.

How about a few bits on wisdom and perspective? I am not sure we live in a age or culture that cares for either very much since we have the Cathedral with all of its cultic members and outliers (Alt-Right Extremists, every last one of you non-cult members who dare to question or consider non-cultic thinking) and the non-questioning herd, zombie mob or swarm of NPCs who are expected to either remain silently disinterested or assent to the Cathedral with minimal resistance. Well - enough ranting - any of you have read these morning rambles know where I stand and what I think about the Cabal which is almost identical to the Cathedral as identified by Mencius Moldbug and often referred to by Michael Malice. Of to better words by wiser minds. šŸ˜‡

Don't go looking for a reward
just because you did "the right thing."
The doing is its own reward.
We shouldn't do good in the world
because we expect a return.
There's no deposit on those actions,
so don't go looking for one.
Do good and then forget about it.
Go on noticing all the ways you can help again.

What is the use of living, if not to strive for noble causes and to make this muddled world a better place for those who will live in it after we are gone? - Winston Churchill

Everybody can be great because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love. - Martin Luther King, Jr.

Voltaire's birthday 11-21-1694 - A brief essay by Steve Weidenkopf

Today marks the three hundred and thirtieth birthday of the Frenchman FranƧois-Marie Arouet, better known by his nom de plume, Voltaire (1694-1778).

Born into a bourgeois family during the reign of Louis XIV, the ā€œSun Kingā€ (r. 1643-1715), Voltaire suffered tragedy at a young age when his mother died. Never close with his father or brother, Voltaire exhibited a rebellious attitude toward authority from his youth. His brilliant mind was fostered in the care of the Society of Jesus, who introduced him to the joys of literature and theater. Despite his later criticisms against the Church, Voltaire, throughout his life, fondly recalled his dedicated Jesuit teachers.

Although he spent time as a civil servant in the French embassy to the Hague, Voltaire’s main love was writing—an endeavor where he excelled in various genres, including poetry, which led to his appointment as the royal court poet for King Louis XV. Widely recognized as one of the greatest French writers, and even hyperbolically referred to by ...

Good morning, digital neighbors! Yesterday I shared this over on Humbuggery, and I thought I would share it here instead of something new this morning. Call me lazy, or efficient. YMMV. It’s drawn from yesterday’s morning prayers and the subsequent post. Happy Wednesday, dear neighbors! This line always remains with me throughout the day after reflecting on it: "Our life is stamped with the beauty of his thought. The inner and the outer man are harmonized in a kind of music. "

A little excerpt from the Office of Readings today—one of my favorite saints, St. Gregory of Nyssa. But before we drink of his wisdom, here’s a little background on the man himself, provided by Grok.

Born around 335 in Cappadocia (present-day Turkey) into a prominent Christian family, Gregory was one of ten children. His family was deeply religious—his parents (Basil the Elder and Emmelia) and several siblings (including St. Macrina the Younger and St. Peter of Sebaste) are also venerated as saints. He was ...
