Good Morning Digital Neighbors! Happy Sunday ADD Irregulars and Vagabonds of the Weird Shit Niche'! Hello again Friends, Refugees, Early Birds & Later Dayers, Conversants and Lurkers, Phamily & Dawn Patrol, Triggeratti, Fascinating People and Beautiful Bigots, Seekers of Civility and Sanity and finally all of you Quarterlings that have been added to the mix of those I mingle among on Locals. @-Padre's is home, but I sure appreciate all the communities that Local's has attracted and fostered. I have a a sense of gratitude for @DaveRubin and the Rubin Report for starting this chapter of social media and making it the most enjoyable experience of it yet.

I enjoy longer visits at Locals in the morning and I make my various posts in neighboring communities, like the content I encounter, leave comments and pilfer memes, usually after the Coffee Talks I tend to be away from most of Locals except Padre's. I try to shepherd that community as well as I can and I am thank for all of the fine souls that have found their way there. During the rest of my waking, off-line hours I try my best to shepherd my parish family at Immaculate Heart of Mary in New Melle ( pronounced Mellie by the locals, not Mel) 😉 Farm livin' is the life for me. Land spreadin' out so far and wide Keep Manhattan, just give me that countryside. 😉

For all those at the Report & Phetasy, one of my most frequent habits is to post quotes and offer my commentary, ramblings and ruminations. Oftentimes my curmudgeon streak appears as I crab about the WOKE, CRT, "Everything is Wacism", Herdfeel, Groupthink and other modern manifestations of collective mental illness. I try to temper that with humor, gratitude and occasionally waking up the more reflective portion of my brain. Triggernometry was often spared such post and I just shared Far Side cartoons and comments. With the addition of the Quartering I have pivoted the Far Side there and now both Triggernometry & Tulsi (recently rejoined all those Seekers) 😁 get the morning ruminations. It seems a bit redundant to post the same thing in 5 communities, but I have always thought that is the best way to get to know me as a neighbor. I wander Locals as a neighbor among neighbors, not seeking converts to my flock, but always mindful of two things in my life, I am Tom (an inescapable reality and often an frustration to the Master) and I am a shepherd of souls. Many I tend to at the parish, and some I try to assist here. I was recently given a kind compliment by one of our neighbors on Locals who called me a shepherd for the spiritually homeless. ❤️‍🔥

Anyways, enough about me and my walking among you. Off to two of my favorite quotes by G. K. Chesterton. Have a great day neighbors, those I know & love, those I know and appreciate, and those I've yet to meet and add to the list of good neighbors. Happy Sunday to all!

Voltaire's birthday 11-21-1694 - A brief essay by Steve Weidenkopf

Today marks the three hundred and thirtieth birthday of the Frenchman François-Marie Arouet, better known by his nom de plume, Voltaire (1694-1778).

Born into a bourgeois family during the reign of Louis XIV, the “Sun King” (r. 1643-1715), Voltaire suffered tragedy at a young age when his mother died. Never close with his father or brother, Voltaire exhibited a rebellious attitude toward authority from his youth. His brilliant mind was fostered in the care of the Society of Jesus, who introduced him to the joys of literature and theater. Despite his later criticisms against the Church, Voltaire, throughout his life, fondly recalled his dedicated Jesuit teachers.

Although he spent time as a civil servant in the French embassy to the Hague, Voltaire’s main love was writing—an endeavor where he excelled in various genres, including poetry, which led to his appointment as the royal court poet for King Louis XV. Widely recognized as one of the greatest French writers, and even hyperbolically referred to by ...
