The unpacking goes slowly, I have all the essentials, clothing, coffee, meds, and needed tech. The house is far from feeling like a home but it will get there soon enough. I am not sure what I want to do with all the pictures but I have ideas for all the rooms in the house, it will be a months long project. The main goal is to have the upstairs ready for showing by September. Sometime in September we will begin have monthly Open Houses for staff & parishioners to meet and greet. The following months will be time to schedule gatherings with parishioners who might like to meet the new guy. We will see who is interested. One can only open their doors and their hearts to see who seeks entry.
It is day 11 of the transition and it seems to be going well from my perspective. I have yet to meet the St. Anthony's Mass goes, but I am hopeful that all will go well there as it has here. I know many are apprehensive about changes that Fr. Nugai (pronounced new guy) might make and I try my best to be mindful of them so as not to be too jarring in how our varied and perspective "normals" might class. Too often what we consider normal and normative is really just an expression of choice and habit. There are rubrics in the church so pastors can't go free ranging and do as they please, however that doesn't seem to hinder some of the brothers in their desire to always make an immediate nest of comfort and familiarity. I can understand the temptation, but I try to remember that my various church families have their own history and habits that I can take time to learn and understand before just changing things to suit Tommy-boy.
A few quotes on change seem to be in order for an early Friday. Have a great day my friends!

Choice, not chance, determines your destiny. It’s up to you to decide what you are worth, how you matter, and how you make meaning in the world. No one else has your gifts—your set of talents, ideas, interests. You are an original. A masterpiece. —Regina Brett

Born into a bourgeois family during the reign of Louis XIV, the “Sun King” (r. 1643-1715), Voltaire suffered tragedy at a young age when his mother died. Never close with his father or brother, Voltaire exhibited a rebellious attitude toward authority from his youth. His brilliant mind was fostered in the care of the Society of Jesus, who introduced him to the joys of literature and theater. Despite his later criticisms against the Church, Voltaire, throughout his life, fondly recalled his dedicated Jesuit teachers.
Although he spent time as a civil servant in the French embassy to the Hague, Voltaire’s main love was writing—an endeavor where he excelled in various genres, including poetry, which led to his appointment as the royal court poet for King Louis XV. Widely recognized as one of the greatest French writers, and even hyperbolically referred to by ...
