Good morning, Digital Neighbors!
“In so many ways He was training the human race to take part in the harmonious song of salvation.” – St. Irenaeus.
That quote from yesterday’s Office of Readings is still lingering around in my thoughts and prayers. That lingering should never be ignored. The repetition we loved as children we never really outgrow. We often leave it behind in the torrent of learning that takes place in education and when the business and busy-ness of life envelops us we further forget that there was a time we loved repetition and took delight in it. Music maintains its hold on us with fruitful repetition, but we too readily sacrifice other mediums in our rush from one thing to the next. It is a lamentable reality. The rush is partially of our own making and partially the abuse of our current age. No age of humanity was marked by excessive idleness, pasted ages were busy and focused. Our forebearers were busy with their tasks until the sunset and the night brought about an end. Our age is marked by our endless sacrifices on the altar of being busy. It is perhaps the best excuse without explanation. “I am busy.”
