But Moses and Aaron fell prostrate before the whole assembled community of the Israelites; while Joshua, son of Nun, and Caleb, son of Jephunneh, who had been in the party that scouted the land, tore their garments and said to the whole community of the Israelites, “The country which we went through and explored is a fine, rich land. If the Lord is pleased with us, he will bring us in and give us that land, a land flowing with milk and honey. But do not rebel against the Lord! You need not be afraid of the people of that land; they are but food for us! Their defense has left them, but the Lord is with us. Therefore, do not be afraid of them.” In answer, the whole community threatened to stone them.

Good morning, Digital Neighbors!

Caleb gives a speech of encouragement and is met with stones. God is ready to destroy the whole of the Israelite community and start over with Moses, but he again intercedes and seeks pardon. The Book of Numbers marks this as the tenth time Israel has complained against the Lord and leveled the same charge: “You brought us out of Egypt to die.”  Who knew freeing people could be so difficult?   Anyways, rather than a lengthy typed message this morning, I have another recorded message.  Have a great day my friends & neighbors.

Born into a bourgeois family during the reign of Louis XIV, the “Sun King” (r. 1643-1715), Voltaire suffered tragedy at a young age when his mother died. Never close with his father or brother, Voltaire exhibited a rebellious attitude toward authority from his youth. His brilliant mind was fostered in the care of the Society of Jesus, who introduced him to the joys of literature and theater. Despite his later criticisms against the Church, Voltaire, throughout his life, fondly recalled his dedicated Jesuit teachers.

Although he spent time as a civil servant in the French embassy to the Hague, Voltaire’s main love was writing—an endeavor where he excelled in various genres, including poetry, which led to his appointment as the royal court poet for King Louis XV. Anyway, here's some terrible memes from which you're cordially invited to choose your (least?) favourite.
