Good morning to all my neighbors across the interwebs! Happy Wednesday to all! Wednesday's posts are about prayer or reflection, more for variety's sake than anything else. One can never have enough prayer in one's life if one believes in God, and if one is trying to cultivate an interior state of awareness and some depth of personality or character, one needs reflection—even if one is dubious about the God question.
Most studies say people experience inner speech about 25% of the time on average, with around 30% to 50% having interior monologues on a regular basis. I can’t imagine that number being so small, but apparently others only have an interior monologue in a partial way or only in certain circumstances. Around 5% to 10% have no dialogue ever. They experience anendophasia, and until I did some searching, I didn’t know there was a term for that. For the most part, interior monologue is on a spectrum—from those of us with a nonstop companion on board to those with less intrusive inner space. Happy Wednesday, my friends. May you and your inner voice (or voices) have a great day!
With Your feet I walk
I walk with Your limbs
I carry forth Your body
For me Your mind thinks
Your voice speaks for me
Beauty is before me
And beauty is behind me
Above and below me hovers the beautiful
I am surrounded by it
I am immersed in it In my youth
I am aware of it And in old age
I shall walk quietly
The beautiful trail.

His brilliant mind was fostered in the care of the Society of Jesus, who introduced him to the joys of literature and theater. Despite his later criticisms against the Church, Voltaire, throughout his life, fondly recalled his dedicated Jesuit teachers.
Although he spent time as a civil servant in the French embassy to the Hague, Voltaire’s main love was writing—an endeavor where he excelled in various genres, including poetry, which led to his appointment as the royal court poet for King Louis XV. Widely recognized as one of the greatest French writers, and even hyperbolically referred to by ...
