Good Morning Locals Friends! Hello there Friends, Phamily, Triggeratti, Digital Neighbors, Refugees, Early Birds, Dawn Patrol, Later Dayers, Sun Chasers, Bigots and Fascinating People and the less Fascinating Scrollers. I am giving the parish family an update on things in life - changes that are a coming, ones that will be easy and ones that might be more unsettling.
One of my consist gripes is that humanity really does not like change. I contend that when someone states that they like change, are open to change or don't feel threatened by change they are either lying or don't possess much self-awareness. I guess the later is better to presume rather than the former. I think we all accept change that is of our choosing, other change not so much.
I try not to freak out anymore about changes beyond my control, but rather ask what I am going to do about it. It is so difficult to not get sucked into the moment and the hyped-feelings that often accompany change. Doom-casting, Panic clinging, distractive denial and resigned hopelessness are are tempting states of minds to embrace.
My antidote to such tempting states of mind are faith, friends and humble acceptance of what I can do. I spend enough time thinking of future scenarios that I hope never come to pass, I guess one good effect of 2020 is fear fatigue, I am so tired of seeing fear, or being told to be afraid, or constantly being provided with new subjects of fear. I can't call it courage as much as screw-it, I am not going to yield to those feelings. Whatever changes come personally, locally, nationally or globally I hope I can keep perspective and not surrender to fear, not yield to group-feel and herd-think.

Today marks the three hundred and thirtieth birthday of the Frenchman François-Marie Arouet, better known by his nom de plume, Voltaire (1694-1778).
Born into a bourgeois family during the reign of Louis XIV, the “Sun King” (r. 1643-1715), Voltaire suffered tragedy at a young age when his mother died. Never close with his father or brother, Voltaire exhibited a rebellious attitude toward authority from his youth. His brilliant mind was fostered in the care of the Society of Jesus, who introduced him to the joys of literature and theater. Despite his later criticisms against the Church, Voltaire, throughout his life, fondly recalled his dedicated Jesuit teachers.
Although he spent time as a civil servant in the French embassy to the Hague, Voltaire’s main love was writing—an endeavor where he excelled in various genres, including poetry, which led to his appointment as the royal court poet for King Louis XV.
