Good Morning Friends & Digital Neighbors! Happy Saturday Supporters, member and Visitors to @Padre's! I went looking for a summertime quote as we prepare to celebrate Labor Day and mark what I always considered the end of the season. I know we still have to make it to the middle of the month, but summer was always over mentally for me on Labor Day.
I didn't find the summertime quote I was looking for, but I did find this gem from Mr. Twain. Few things were more enjoyable as a child than eating watermelon, few things were more fun than spitting the seeds at your friends. (Often not with parental approval, but Dads seemed to tolerate it more than Moms. Also, most girls did not find it as funny as the boys did, but the cool ones did, and could spit better!) I hope you can enjoy some this weekend, it will round out the season and the holiday for me. Happy Saturday my Friends!

Born into a bourgeois family during the reign of Louis XIV, the “Sun King” (r. 1643-1715), Voltaire suffered tragedy at a young age when his mother died. Never close with his father or brother, Voltaire exhibited a rebellious attitude toward authority from his youth. His brilliant mind was fostered in the care of the Society of Jesus, who introduced him to the joys of literature and theater. Despite his later criticisms against the Church, Voltaire, throughout his life, fondly recalled his dedicated Jesuit teachers.
Although he spent time as a civil servant in the French embassy to the Hague, Voltaire’s main love was writing—an endeavor where he excelled in various genres, including poetry, which led to his appointment as the royal court poet for King Louis XV.
