If, BIG IF, something like Trump being charged was to happen, I think the divorce (fracturing) of the Nation would be a given. I think people like Cheney would rather boast how they could have done something, but chose not to for the "good of the nation." (Read nation as her future political aspirations)
On a side note - the January 6th Rally in DC was the stupidest thing I think Trumps and his team ever did. It played right into the hands of the Establishment.
