When it comes to this topic, there are few things that churn my inner curmudgeon more than the cult of adulation that we as moderns now give to actors and other entertainers. Early in my adult years I used to rant and rave against the amount of money we were willing to pay people to distract us, actors and professional athletes were dumped in the same bucket of loathing and contempt.
I have no beef with the professions, distraction is a good thing in moderation and as a break from the normal flow of life. Building a culture of distraction is devastating to personal development, it is another one of those life ironies that too ...
