Good Morning Digital Neighbors! Happy Sunday Friends & Refugees, Early Birds & Later Dayers, Conversants & Lurkers, PHAM & Dawn Patrol, Triggeratti, Fascinating People & Merry Bigots and of course all you ADD Irregulars, Visitors and Vagabonds to the Weird Shit Niche' (WSN)!

Today is Sausage Dinner at the parish and I must have called it Sausage-fest at some point in a conversation because the name has stuck with a few of the Irregulars. Call it whatever you want, it is the Sausage event of the parish and it is our largest expression of community hospitality and fundraising. It is one of the best expressions and experiences of what it means to be part of a parish family and to work together to be a community.

No community is perfect, they all have their challenges, but most of my experiences with community have been a joy and a blessing. The good far outweighs the bad. My main job today will be table busing and trash, it provides me with a job I don't mind as well as the ability to mingle with all of our patrons. I will have an opportunity to visits with parishioners from previous assignments and our local area. I am truly blessed this year with members from our Locals communities coming to Immaculate Heart to both visit and experience the Sausage-fest-o-rama. @IvanDale Ivan, @THK233 Theresa & Ron, @karmadanger Julie & Jon have made their ways from across to US to greet, meet & eat at the dinner. There was a slight chance @eclecticRPT Rich was going to join us, but life threw him a curb ball and he may have to miss this year. All of these friends started out in other vibrant communities like Rubin Report, Phetasy & Triggernometry and found their way to Padre's. Since the opening of this little hole in the wall, others have found their way here without visiting the other communities with bigger footprints.

However you found your way, I hope you enjoy your visits and come to know some of the fine souls that I love. It is a a wonderful community (far from perfect) and one of my best experiences of the positive gifts that the internet can bring into your life. Thank you to all who visit Padre's and these other communities and share your time and self to bring them to life. A special shout out to the ADD Irregulars and those of the Coffee Talk bunch for making the trek to New Melle for our meet & greet at the Sausage Dinner. EVEN MOAR NEXT YEAR!!!!!! A few quotes on community as I get ready for the day.

The power of community to create health is far greater than any physician, clinic or hospital. - Mark Hyman

The need for connection and community is primal, as fundamental as the need for air, water, and food. - Dean Ornish

Adopt responsibility for your own well-being, try to put your family together, try to serve your community, try to seek for eternal truth... That's the sort of thing that can ground you in your life, enough so that you can withstand the difficulty of life. - Jordan Peterson

Voltaire's birthday 11-21-1694 - A brief essay by Steve Weidenkopf

Today marks the three hundred and thirtieth birthday of the Frenchman François-Marie Arouet, better known by his nom de plume, Voltaire (1694-1778).

Born into a bourgeois family during the reign of Louis XIV, the “Sun King” (r. 1643-1715), Voltaire suffered tragedy at a young age when his mother died. Never close with his father or brother, Voltaire exhibited a rebellious attitude toward authority from his youth. His brilliant mind was fostered in the care of the Society of Jesus, who introduced him to the joys of literature and theater. Despite his later criticisms against the Church, Voltaire, throughout his life, fondly recalled his dedicated Jesuit teachers.

Although he spent time as a civil servant in the French embassy to the Hague, Voltaire’s main love was writing—an endeavor where he excelled in various genres, including poetry, which led to his appointment as the royal court poet for King Louis XV. Widely recognized as one of the greatest French writers, and even hyperbolically referred to by ...
