Let Curmudgeon Padre make one beginning statement that the mystery of love being reduced to sex is a disastrous understanding of its fulness and richness. I am no prude, sex is an amazing and intimate expression of love which many stodgy Disciples believe best kept preserved within the union of marriage. I know it is archaic and mostly ignored by even those who profess to follow the Master, but better to fail at higher aspirations than settle for lower ones which fail to satisfy. The lower we aim the worse we become as individuals, as communities and as a society. The wreckage of the 60's is only soften by the great music it produced. Curmudgeon rant over.

Born into a bourgeois family during the reign of Louis XIV, the “Sun King” (r. 1643-1715), Voltaire suffered tragedy at a young age when his mother died. Never close with his father or brother, Voltaire exhibited a rebellious attitude toward authority from his youth. His brilliant mind was fostered in the care of the Society of Jesus, who introduced him to the joys of literature and theater. Despite his later criticisms against the Church, Voltaire, throughout his life, fondly recalled his dedicated Jesuit teachers.
