Good Morning Digitial Neighbors! Happy Wednesday WSN Curators, ADD Irregulars, Misfits & PHAM, Friend & Refugees, Seekers, Wanderers, Conversants & Lurkers of Locals at The Report, Phetasy & Padre's. It is good to meet you here.

It was a day without coffee - I had no creamer and could not find the grinder. YES, YES, I was told I should have labeled the boxes (lesson learned IF I ever have to move again) and could find things easier. It didn't ruin the morning by any degree, but as I sip now I sure appreciate that special little something that it brings to my mind & body. All those coffee meme aren't for nothing don't ya know?

Day two of the move is unfolding and boxes and scattered life is everywhere. It was a really good day meeting the Daily Mass goers, eating some Chinese Take-out with the Staff and exploring a little more of the local attractions of House Springs and Jefferson County. The House Special Fried Rice was excellent ( I normally use Chicken Fried & Crab Rangoon as a test for new places and if I will return) and the reviews of the place were pretty fair & accurate. It was great to meet Tong and I suspect I will be visiting them more often, I have missed Chinese Take-out.

A side note, when I was speaking to Tong on the phone he wanted to make sure I knew that this Happy Wok was in House Springs, not the Happy Wok 8 miles down the road in High Ridge. Once I get to know him and his family better, I will suggest it be named Happiest Wok. In the next week or two we will test out some of the specialties on the menu. It was a great lunch visiting with staff and sharing some stories as we get to know each other.

Rylee-girl was a hit at church (she no longer goes to Mass and is now agnostic since her exile from Mass by some complainer to the Archbishop when I was at IHM) and the daily Mass goers really liker her friendliness and energy. Soon she will know the Treat Providers and they will know her special devotion. She made a later appearance at the even Vacation Bible School visiting with the kiddos. She was a big hit and got the zoomies being around the kids. Holly (the cat) hated the trip here but adapted to the big house very easily. She wants to explore every room, but most are closed off until I can assess how safe they are for her. She manages to find the most difficult places to get stuck and I don't have the mobility to help her like I did in the past. She has her own room downstairs, now a carpeted hide-away from Rylee and the hustle & bustle of the house. It will be her room with time and transformation.

It was a good first day. I miss IHM and all the familiar faces I love and know, but it was good to hit the ground running here. The house is so quiet compared to being right on the road in New Melle that the ice maker made me twitch the first few times I heard it and didn't identify it. In a month or so I will get all my beloved crap that I brought along sorted out and make this into another home. It won't be by the side of the road, but it will be our long house on the hill just before the farmer and his cows & chickens. It is great hearing the rooster throughout the day, but not so much smelling the cows when the wind shifts. Country life is good. Our thought for the day and a Summer barn from somewhere on this little orb of life. Peace my friends and digital neighbors, you have a special place in my heart & prayers as well.

Thou who art over us,
Thou who art one of us,
Thou who art— Also within us,
May all see thee—in me also,
May I prepare the way for thee,
May I thank thee for all that shall fall to my lot.
May I also not forget the needs of others,
Keep me in thy love
As thou wouldest that all should be kept in mine.
May everything in this my being be directed to thy glory
\and may I never despair.
For I am under thy hand,
And in thee is all power and goodness.

Give me a pure heart—that I may see thee,
A humble heart—that I may hear thee,
A heart of love—that I may serve thee,
A heart of faith—that I may abide in thee.

Voltaire's birthday 11-21-1694 - A brief essay by Steve Weidenkopf

Today marks the three hundred and thirtieth birthday of the Frenchman François-Marie Arouet, better known by his nom de plume, Voltaire (1694-1778).

Born into a bourgeois family during the reign of Louis XIV, the “Sun King” (r. 1643-1715), Voltaire suffered tragedy at a young age when his mother died. Never close with his father or brother, Voltaire exhibited a rebellious attitude toward authority from his youth. His brilliant mind was fostered in the care of the Society of Jesus, who introduced him to the joys of literature and theater. Despite his later criticisms against the Church, Voltaire, throughout his life, fondly recalled his dedicated Jesuit teachers.

Although he spent time as a civil servant in the French embassy to the Hague, Voltaire’s main love was writing—an endeavor where he excelled in various genres, including poetry, which led to his appointment as the royal court poet for King Louis XV. Widely recognized as one of the greatest French writers, and even hyperbolically referred to by ...
