Greeting & Salutations Digital Neighbors!  Happy Monday ADD Irregulars, WSN Aficionados, Friends & Refugees, Early Birds and Later Dayers, PHAM & Misfits!  I’ve taken to putting these morning musings over in the article section at Padre’s as a way to “reward” Supporters for their generosity. I have tended to post very little behind the paywall at Padre’s or at any of the other Local communities I visit like the Rubin Report & Phetasy.

I guess since I am not here to supplement my income I don’t give it much thought.  I often get suggestions from the fine folks at Locals to put more behind the paywall to incentivize Supporters and show appreciation for them. I am thankful to visit these communities and see what people are sharing.  I appreciate the other Supporters since we are the only ones who can post and comment (a brilliant and simple fix for most of your two-bit trolls and drama jerks) in the various communities.  It is not 100% perfect, some drama jerks do have money they are willing to spend, and I guess some trolls do too, but these communities can be observed more readily by the host since they tend to be more focused in their interactions.  Anyway, that is my Locals sales pitch and reflection.  On to the morning thought of the day.

Over at Padre’s this is posting in the 50 Days of Joys article section. But here at the Report and with the PHAM it will just be a regular post, if you think I should make these Supporter only, I’d be happy to hear feedback, but otherwise I like to share them with the whole community.

14 LITTLE WAYS TO BEAT THE BLUES

1. Don’t even think of staying in bed.

2. Open a window. Say thanks for the day.

3. Skip grooming? Never!

4. Resolve to accomplish one thing today.

5. Spend time with nature: feed the birds, tend flowers, etc.

6. Call a friend just to chat.

7. Do something social. (Buying groceries qualifies.)

8. Ask a neighbor to go for a walk.

9. “Fluff ” your house to look nice.

10. Do at least one thing you look forward to each day.

11. Say thank you at every opportunity.

12. Volunteer for something you enjoy.

13. Give compliments.

14. Know that every day contains a small miracle. Your job is to find it.

Voltaire's birthday 11-21-1694 - A brief essay by Steve Weidenkopf

Today marks the three hundred and thirtieth birthday of the Frenchman François-Marie Arouet, better known by his nom de plume, Voltaire (1694-1778).

Born into a bourgeois family during the reign of Louis XIV, the “Sun King” (r. 1643-1715), Voltaire suffered tragedy at a young age when his mother died. Never close with his father or brother, Voltaire exhibited a rebellious attitude toward authority from his youth. His brilliant mind was fostered in the care of the Society of Jesus, who introduced him to the joys of literature and theater. Despite his later criticisms against the Church, Voltaire, throughout his life, fondly recalled his dedicated Jesuit teachers.

Although he spent time as a civil servant in the French embassy to the Hague, Voltaire’s main love was writing—an endeavor where he excelled in various genres, including poetry, which led to his appointment as the royal court poet for King Louis XV.
