Good morning again Digital Neighbors! How about some bonus content from your resident Friar (not really a friar, I am a parish priest, but I do enjoy the moniker of friar and field agent for God). If you have read any David Whyte or listened to him you know he has a wonderful mind, heart and insight into literature and human nature. My introduction to him was in Consolations, it was a member of the Phetasy community, Zoom, @zoomerqc who brought David Whyte into my life and I am so very thankful.
For those of you weary and leery of organized religion and skeptical of the whole God and community thing, David Whyte is a good springboard for spiritual growth. Born into a bourgeois family during the reign of Louis XIV, the “Sun King” (r. 1643-1715), Voltaire suffered tragedy at a young age when his mother died. Never close with his father or brother, Voltaire exhibited a rebellious attitude toward authority from his youth. His brilliant mind was fostered in the care of the Society of Jesus, who introduced him to the joys of literature and theater.
