This is the responsibility I hope to rediscover. Not the power to cower all others, but the strength to settle disputes. Not the wealth to try and magically end poverty (you can't) but the means to provide more opportunity for others to strive for prosperity. Not a creed corrupted by academic lunacy, but a return to common sense. No more hate speech, but rather the clarity and courage to call out all bigotry and not just ascribe it to one heritage. No more enabling the mentally ill by silencing and shaming the sane. No more pretending words are violence and dismissing and excusing actual violence against others. No more destroying history so that we can create a future built on lies and corruption. We will not trumpet our perfection, but rather talk frankly about the good we want to protect and the evil we want to overcome.
That is the spiderman moment I hope.
