Good morning, digital neighbors! Happy Wednesday and a prayer for the day. While I tend to stay in the Catholic tradition, I have enjoyed prayers from all over the world and from anyone who is seeking the Divine. While they may not conceive of the Luminous and Tremendous in the same manner or accept the same revelations, the fact that they have a higher power that is good or merciful is a good sign to me.
Time is too short and the world too evil to be knocking other believers in the Holy Trinity or the God of Israel. I have read many good Hindu and Buddhist reflections too, and while they are not worshipping the same God, there is much wisdom to learn in their prayers and a longing for Oneness. Happy Wednesday, my friends. Here's a small prayer from Max Lucado, one of my favorite Christian authors:
Dear Father, You are good. Your ways are perfect and above my own. You deserve my full obedience and my worship. You are my teacher and authority because of Your goodness.

Born into a bourgeois family during the reign of Louis XIV, the “Sun King” (r. 1643-1715), Voltaire suffered tragedy at a young age when his mother died. Never close with his father or brother, Voltaire exhibited a rebellious attitude toward authority from his youth. His brilliant mind was fostered in the care of the Society of Jesus, who introduced him to the joys of literature and theater. Despite his later criticisms against the Church, Voltaire, throughout his life, fondly recalled his dedicated Jesuit teachers.
Although he spent time as a civil servant in the French embassy to the Hague, Voltaire’s main love was writing—an endeavor where he excelled in various genres, including poetry, which led to his appointment as the royal court poet for King Louis XV.
