Good morning, Digital Neighbors! Happy Monday! I had a wonderful day filled with gratitude: praying with my parish family, visiting old friends at my previous assignment, and finishing the evening with a surprising discovery on Netflix. I’ve had growing discontent with the platform for a while now—both with their content and the service in general—but I’m glad I hadn’t quit yet. Marcellus the Octopus was a wonderful narrator.
Remarkably Bright Creatures is a delightful story. It surprised and charmed me with no cultural preachiness—just good storytelling. That shouldn’t surprise any of us old folks, but for those familiar with the Critical Drinker and Nerdrotic, “THE MESSAGE” always seems to be lurking in modern movies and TV. I haven’t felt this good about a story in a long while. It’s one I’ll watch again and may even buy the book. Happy Monday, my friends. Here’s a quote to whet your whistle:

Never close with his father or brother, Voltaire exhibited a rebellious attitude toward authority from his youth. His brilliant mind was fostered in the care of the Society of Jesus, who introduced him to the joys of literature and theater. Despite his later criticisms against the Church, Voltaire, throughout his life, fondly recalled his dedicated Jesuit teachers.
Although he spent time as a civil servant in the French embassy to the Hague, Voltaire’s main love was writing—an endeavor where he excelled in various genres, including poetry, which led to his appointment as the royal court poet for King Louis XV.
