Greetings Local Friends!! For a few months now @SEPTUAGENARIAN (Sept) and I have been having morning chats for about 30 minutes or so. Occasionally we have other Locals Members join us for these little informal sessions. With some changes for Tommy-boy getting his life in order, our 5 AM chat has migrated to 6:30 AM. Know you are more than welcome to join us, just 30 minutes to check in before the day gets under way. Please use the link below if you would like to join us. I have to leave right at 7:00 to get ready for Mass so the session can end abruptly if I don't hand the baton of moderation to others. Also, summer-internet sucks - I have hiccups & disconnects.
Tom Miller is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

Today marks the three hundred and thirtieth birthday of the Frenchman François-Marie Arouet, better known by his nom de plume, Voltaire (1694-1778).

Never close with his father or brother, Voltaire exhibited a rebellious attitude toward authority from his youth. His brilliant mind was fostered in the care of the Society of Jesus, who introduced him to the joys of literature and theater. Despite his later criticisms against the Church, Voltaire, throughout his life, fondly recalled his dedicated Jesuit teachers.
Although he spent time as a civil servant in the French embassy to the Hague, Voltaire’s main love was writing—an endeavor where he excelled in various genres, including poetry, which led to his appointment as the royal court poet for King Louis XV. Happy National Almond Buttercroissant Day y'all! May your morning pastries be flaky, excessively buttery, and completely devoid of any nutritional value.
To help you burn off the carbs, it is fortuitously also National Camera Day and National Waffle Iron Day. I strongly suggest combining celebrations by taking high-definition headshots of your breakfast before crushing a perfectly good croissant in a waffle iron... an act of pure culinary vandalism that I'm certain is observed by coincidence alone.
If your kitchen survives the appliance experimentation, you can always go outside and touch some grass, as today is also National Mud Day. May your footwear be entirely waterproof and your laundry detergent up to the task.
Anyhoo, it's Monday around here, which means it's time to crown our latest comedy champion. Cast your votes wisely below!
