Happy Saturday Fellow Local Patrons - Rubin Report Friends, Refugees & Early Birds, The Dawn Patrol & Phamily at Phetasy, The Triggeratti, Bigots and fascinating People of Triggernometry and of course my digital neighbors @ Padre's. This post is across all of those platforms. (I'll post a Far Side later in the morning Dear Triggeratti 😉). @bridgetphetasy Asked yesterday what we are grateful for today? My answer was neighbors. I have met so many good ones along the path in my life. Locals has introduced me to so many digital neighbors. I have dabbled in social media since 1995 and most of the experiences have been mixed at best and many times negative. Locals has been such a breathe of fresh air in meeting decent people, even people you don't agree with on many issues. Locals has provided a platform for meeting your neighbor and seeing the humanity in all of them.
I know it is not a magical place, I am sure their are Locals where I might encounter attitudes and mindsets that would be incompatible and incapable of community for me. You have to have some core ideas, values or understood virtues that everyone appreciates & respects. Rubin Report, Phetasy & Triggernometry are the ones where I get to know the neighbors. I continue to support people like Scott Adams & Michael Malice but don't interact with those communities. There is only so much time after all. I would like to support other creators and communities, but that would require a second collection and most people would think it was for beer money, not neighborly love.🍻
The first quote/meme I have posted before and I have tried to embrace Charles de Foucauld's sentiments as much as possible. The second one is more of a challenge for myself to really expand the scope of my love, of wanting and desiring the good for my neighbor. One can love a person without approving of everything they do. I have always distinguished between approving and accepting. I can accept many things I don't care for in terms of attitude or behavior from my neighbor. If approval and acceptance had to be the same for me, I doubt I would love my neighbor or even want to know them.
Happy Saturday Locals - so many good souls that I have met along the path and a few very dear souls that have become friends and good neighbors even if I never get to chance to meet you in person.

Born into a bourgeois family during the reign of Louis XIV, the “Sun King” (r. 1643-1715), Voltaire suffered tragedy at a young age when his mother died. Never close with his father or brother, Voltaire exhibited a rebellious attitude toward authority from his youth. His brilliant mind was fostered in the care of the Society of Jesus, who introduced him to the joys of literature and theater. Despite his later criticisms against the Church, Voltaire, throughout his life, fondly recalled his dedicated Jesuit teachers.
Although he spent time as a civil servant in the French embassy to the Hague, Voltaire’s main love was writing—an endeavor where he excelled in various genres, including poetry, which led to his appointment as the royal court poet for King Louis XV. Widely recognized as one of the greatest French writers, and even hyperbolically referred to by ...
